Evolving for Integration

Advanced Roofing began in Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1983 as a roofing contractor serving the Southeast. As interest in clean energy grew, the company expanded into solar and founded Advanced Green Technologies (AGT) in 2007. Today, AGT focuses exclusively on commercial and industrial solar projects throughout the Southeast. The company has grown from a solar division into a full-service operation capable of taking projects from early design through construction and beyond.

That evolution has also shaped the kind of projects the team chooses to take on. AGT has experience across rooftops, ground mounts, carports, floating solar, and battery storage. Increasingly, the team is taking on projects where solar becomes part of the architecture. By bringing design, engineering, and construction together under one roof, AGT stays involved from the earliest stages of a project through installation. In 2026, AGT and Advanced Roofing became 100% employee-owned, giving the entire team a stake in the work they deliver.

Architectural Solar for the Win

AGT’s experience with complex solar projects has led to a strong partnership with Lumos. The two teams have worked together on projects where solar needs to complement the architecture, not simply sit alongside it.

That partnership has brought the teams together on several high-profile projects. At Largo City Hall, an 80-foot-above-grade Lumos Vision array connects the parking garage to the new City Hall building. Together, they form one continuous shade structure. At the Sarasota County Administrative Center, AGT installed a long Lumos canopy over the bus parking and loading area. The project also includes a covered pedestrian area near the building entrance. Projects like these show how solar structures can become part of the architectural experience.

Designing for What Comes Next

As architectural solar continues to evolve, AGT sees more opportunities to make solar structures an intentional part of a project’s design. With its in-house design and engineering capabilities and experience with complex commercial projects, the team is prepared to take on increasingly ambitious projects.
