With the renovation of their headquarters, Hannah Solar wanted to make an innovative statement that “will literally stop traffic,” quotes Peter H. Marte, Hannah Solar CEO. To highlight Hannah Solar’s remarkable net zero building, they installed Atlanta’s first “solar energy tree”, designed by Spotlight Solar. Topping this beautiful structure are (12) Lumos LSX250 series modules that do the work of converting sunlight into electricity. LSX is used with the artistic solar structure to enhance its unique, visually stunning appearance that will turn heads and inspire people to add solar into their lives.
The state of Georgia is one of the fastest growing solar market in the U.S. and ranked #7 nationally in 2013 with 91MW of installed solar electric capacity. Georgia ranks #15 with 116MW cumulative installed solar electric capacity, which is enough to power an estimated 10,600 homes. The aesthetically beautiful structures were installed in front of live local press to mark the first day of spring, March 20th. At 22-feet tall, the bright orange structure with Lumos LSX modules topping it, will be easily visible. The system will provide the electricity for the on-site EV charging units used to “fuel” the company’s Nissan Leafs.
Lumos LSX solar modules have been used in numerous architectural applications, but the visually attractive structures by Spotlight Solar elevate the LSX to another level. Artistic form really does meet function with these sculpture structures, bringing solar into a new light and inspiring new applications for LSX.
