February 18, 2014 – You can trace the history of American football to the mid-19th century, with professional football taking its first steps in 1920 with the formation of the American Professional football Association and 14 teams.
Today, there are 32 teams and many of those teams are thinking beyond the game. Both the teams and the players are role models, and many, like the St. Louis Rams, take the position of influence very seriously.
In 2005, the St. Louis Rams played NFL‘s first carbon neutral game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Since then, the Rams have been committed to establishing and growing their Green Platform, seeking every opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint. One of the Team’s efforts was to reach out to St. Louis solar installer, Microgrid Solar, to reduce their carbon footprint with solar.
The first phase of this clean energy improvement will start with a combined 25kW solar roof and solar sculpture installation. The most exciting and visible components are the (12) Lumos LSX frameless solar panels that are the highlight of the architectural structure designed by Spotlight Solar.
Standing as tall as nearby trees, the solar sculpture is just west of the main entrance and has been installed to get the maximum exposure. The LSX solar panels are visible proof of the Rams’ continuing greening efforts.
