Lebanon’s KIA motors brings the “new look of solar” to the Middle East

LSX makes a trip to the other side of the globe providing power to KIA Motors

North of Israel, bordering the Mediterranean Ocean on the west and Syria on the east, you wouldn’t have expected Lumos LSX modules to have landed in Lebanon. Yet, just 5 short months ago (July 2013) a 7.68kW solar awning of LSX250 Series modules was installed and turned on at KIA Motors showroom in Beirut, Lebanon. The system will generate over 10,000kWh/year of electricity for the showroom, which is equivalent to reducing their carbon footprint by 7.1 metric tons.

Just over a year ago, KIA was acknowledged as one of the ‘Top 100 Best Global Brands’ according to the 2012 study released by Interbrand, the world’s largest brand consultancy agency. Founded in 1944, KIA is Korea’s oldest manufacture of motor vehicles and continues to gain prestige and popularity on the global market.

Designed and installed by a local Lebanon architectural company, Azadian & Cie, the system was designed to compliment the new KIA showroom.  Because the solar panels are on the front of the building and extremely visible to customers, aesthetics was very high on the priority list for both Azadian & Cie and KIA Lebanon; Lumos LSX modules were perfect for meeting this need.
