School is cool
Just like you were taught in school, we at Lumos Solar believe collaboration is the key to success. For Carolina Day School in Asheville, North Carolina that could not have been more true. While their students were preparing for another year of essays, exams, and presentations, we did a group project of our own with Legerton Architecture and Lumos Preferred Installers Renewable Design Associates. The project requirements were (1) clean energy integration, (2) elevated design, and (3) shade. We knew we couldn’t accomplish this alone, so we worked together to bring this vision to life!

Stronger Together
The team at Legerton Architecture designed a beautiful shaded area for students to study, snack and chat. Their 25 years of experience working in the Asheville area made them the perfect team to design for the city’s next generation of students! Attention to detail, quality work and sustainable integration is what makes Legerton so legendary. That’s why Lumos was the ideal choice to top off their designs, and Renewable Design Associates the perfect team to bring it to life!
The recently completed entry plaza, amphitheater, and rain gardens have transformed the main entrance to the Upper School at Carolina Day School in Asheville, NC. A highlight of the renovation is the new front porch, built with tempered and laminated Lumos photovoltaic glass panels. This solar porch provides a welcoming and vibrant space for learning and collaboration—and has quickly become a favorite gathering place for students and staff.Wendy Legerton, Legerton Architecture
Also based in Asheville, Renewable Design Associates have made it their mission to empower their community with the highest-quality solar solutions. This project is the pinnacle of that goal. Between the rooftop installation to the solar awnings for shade and protection from outdoor weather, the RDA team went the extra mile for that A+. Through their impeccable attention to detail and industry leading workmanship, the vision of providing today’s students with clean solar energy became a reality.
